Mission

At the heart of zhuzh is a deep commitment to empowering artisans. Over the past several years, we've expanded from working with three lead artisans in Lomé, Togo, to a team of six who now oversee more than 30 apprentices.

We provide fair wages, improved workspaces, and essential supplies, along with education in entrepreneurship, sustainability, and communication to help artisans preserve their craft and build sustainable livelihoods. In 2023, we launched the Artisan Workshop to further support artisans and engage the community by showcasing and teaching cultural techniques, like paper mache from Haiti and straw weaving from the Bahamas.

zhuzh envisions a world where the rich craftsmanship of the African Diaspora is celebrated globally, while promoting sustainable practices like zero-waste initiatives and natural material sourcing to drive economic empowerment and mindful consumption.
